Ides of March: String Quartet + Live Art Models

Spring is Coming

And we gladly recommend preparing for the Ides of March by listening to glorious string quartets accompanying live art models, who will be re-enacting the assassination of Julius Caesar. A collaboration with our friends at Sketchboard Collective, the event begins this Sunday, March 17 at 2:00 PM, with Wave Chamber Collective performing from 3:30–5:00. Bring art supplies if you'd like to join the sketching, and also your appetite — food and drinks by Chef Eder from Provecho and Sommelier Parker from Decant San Francisco will be available for purchase.

Wave Concert for Palestine

Our hearts have been heavy witnessing genocide. What we can offer is a hearth to gather around for our community. To mourn people who’ve lost their lives, recognize and bear witness to injustice, and gather support.

We stand with Palestine. We stand for land back for colonized people, from Palestine to sovereign tribes in the US.

Thank you to our musicians for donating their time to something they believe in and to Wave Collective Space for hosting us, donating space, and being a safe place.

Your ticket fee will be donated to Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund.

Poetry + String Quartet @ The Lost Church

Tickets here

While some of the show’s music and poetry is prearranged and scripted, for half of the performance none of the performers know what's gonna happen until it's on the page—not even the poet herself! While the quartet plays, and the audience listens, Silvi types then reads the written on-the-spot poem. If you haven't seen this collaboration before, expect an absolutely original experience. The typewriter is another instrument, poetry another line of music.

www.wavechambercollective.com

Knocking chamber music tradition off its pedestal by introducing risks, questions, instability, crowds, the unknown - healthy chaotic good. Founded by musicians, in collaboration with a community of artists, for audiences of everyone.

silvi alcivar, poet, @thepoetrystore

www.thepoetrystore.net

silvi's work lives in the moment two strangers meet over her red royal typewriter--the anonymity an invitation to speak, the typewriter keys a willing listener. the poetry is almost incidental. the real work is offering what we all want at the core of our humanness—to feel witnessed and connected, present and seen, spontaneous and at play. while best known as an event poet, she's currently collaborating with musicians, classrooms, conferences, and more.

thank you for supporting the livelihood of artists and musicians in san francisco! all proceeds go directly to the musicians and artists. to continue supporting art and the emergence of new experiences, become a patron: www.patreon.com/wavechambercollective and/or www.patreon.com/silvialcivar

Wave Chamber Collective + Sketchboard Co

Wave Chamber Collective + Sketchboard Co present: Baroque Delights: Autumne

Wave Chamber Collective is immensely excited to be partnering with Sketchboard.co for a unique performance combining live art models + a live drawing community and our dynamic string quartet.

Get your tickets here

Through the traditional art study of life drawing; Sketchboard offers an economically and socially accessible opportunity for participants to develop their creative practice, while offering a window into the evolving ways that we view our social relationships. The collective seeks to diversify the field of figurative representation and standardize equitable practices of modeling through unionization.

With BAROQUE Delights, the models will be placed in a Baroque world: draping fabrics, lavish fruit spreads, columns and STRING QUARTET

Our doors are at 2:30, performance starts at 3pm (the live drawing starts at 2). The quartet will be performing in front of the models as they pose, and other participants sketch. This ticket also grants you access to participate in drawing the models as well.

There will be a DJ, food and drinks (for purchase, not included in the ticket), and a friendly, community oriented feel. Feel free to stay after to mingle and chat!

This community has a VERY STRICT policy of NO PHOTOS ALLOWED. There will be a photographer and beautiful photos we’ll share later. But use your beautiful words and powers of description to make all your friends wish they joined you <3

Bring your friends, lovers, enemies!

This is going to be special

Get your tickets now - we’re expecting to sell this one out <3

We can’t wait to party with you! Thank you, as always, for the love and support.

Wave Chamber Collective + Silvi Alcivar at The Lost Church

4 musicians, one poet, an underground North Beach venue. Get your tickets now!

While the quartet plays, and the audience listens, Silvi types then reads the written on-the-spot poem. If you haven't seen this collaboration before, expect an absolutely original experience. The typewriter is another instrument, poetry another line of music.

Phase 3 will continue to explore the relationship between presence and creation, words and music, inviting audience participation, and continue to knock tradition off its pedestal by introducing risks, questions, instability, and the unknown.

This is performance 3 in a series of 4 throughout the year.

String 4tets + How We Relate

String 4tets + How We Relate

In our first gathering of 2023, Wave Chamber Collective invites two more scientific thinkers to the stage with us, this time to exploring relational dynamics. We wanted to refocus the collective lens from romantic dynamics to other kinds of relationships. Join Justine Leichtling as she explores our relationship with ourselves and Patrick Freeman as he shares his groundbreaking research on unexpectedly nurturing relationships between male elephants in the wild. As always, our skilled and empathetic Collective musicians will be choosing pieces to highlight the tone and themes of the evening.

The evening will be taking place in a new space for our group (although not new for many of the musicians) at Monument in SOMA! Monument is a live/work/event space in San Francisco that connects and supports creative people across different fields - you can read more about them here.

String 4tet + WAVES

Join artists of Wave Chamber Collective in welcoming three local experts giving short talks on different forms of WAVES! One ocean-inspired (and tequila-based) cocktail is included in your ticket. This is also the soft-launch of our brand-new Patreon, with each wave corresponding to a different level.

In a new format, each scientist/engineer will speak for 5-7 on their wave and the musicians will perform music chosen inspired by it.

Alex Ritter, PhD is perfectly poised to discuss LIGHT WAVES. His research applies quantitative imaging approaches to visualize and measure effects of perturbation on biological systems with a special focus on live cell imaging of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) killing of cancer cells.

Tomas Wischerath aka Habitaat will be speaking to us about SOUND WAVES. A sound engineer, composer, and DJ that uses a creative mixture of natural sounds, hyphy melodies, and euphoric dance beats to bridge the gap between the natural world and electronic dance music. Brazil-born and Bay Area raised, HABITAAT’s unique production is influenced by Hip-Hop, cinematic movie scores, and underground club music, with the aim to make you feel like you are surrounded by nature.

We'll be announcing our third speaker, who will be focused on WATER WAVES soon.

Our Quartet is comprised of three musicians who kicked off the inaugural Wave Chamber Collective concert back in September: Sam Weiser, Pauline Kempf, and Nao Kubota joined by Saul Richmond-Rakerd in his debut concert.
